agak boring dan terlalu banyak bicara agak2 sama dengan film2 sejarah, tidak ada sesuatu yg baru di film ini....
but di sini banyak sekali pesan2 revolusi (cocok nih buat yg mau ngadain revolusi) hehehe
saya hanya bisa memberi 3.5 bintang untuk film ini.... good but not the best...

There are plenty of names and places thrown out with no explanation given. Also a very biased take on the events of the revolution and civil war - suppose that isn't really a surprise. If you share my fascination with China, you'll like this. If you don't, there's no way you'll ever come across this movie, so don't worry.
I don't know most of the stars so there is no point for me to enjoy this propaganda movie. And the image of Mao was so unreal.

And, In some sence there is a big difference from what our 'common understand' to Chairman Mao, such as his mind originally was to build a republic with more than 1 political party. And the China at that time was totally eroded.... but not so good in nowadays. Just an other angle.

Maybe, but to tell the truth, if it is propaganda it's really well-executed, playing to the powerful human drama that was the political struggle between Mao Zedong's communists and Jiang Jieshi's nationalists. Thankfully, they don't make the mistake of so many other propaganda films in telling a black-and-white, good-versus-evil story of the communist triumph over the evil reactionary nationalists, but rather allow us access to each of the characters, allowing them all to play out. One has to feel some sympathy for Jiang Jieshi by the end, even if the film does ultimately make the case for the communist-led government!
I docked it one and a half points because it didn't seem like it had quite decided whether it wanted to be an historical drama, an action film, a documentary or a pure propaganda piece. It lasted two hours and didn't feel like it quite knew how to fill the time. Also, the cast was HUGE! If you haven't studied modern China at all, you WILL be lost in the vast sea of historical characters (some of whom only make cameos).
expected much worse, so quite surprised that it turned out ok. though this movie can be expanded into a 10 episode documentary
There are many stars, but there is not moving stories.
Many people fell alseep, actually.
The part of history was nice but when you think about the 20 years after that, it is not a sexy story any more.
