Hyams' Beyond a Reasonable Doubt is an uneven, thoroughly routine, and at times preposterous, investigative reporter/courtroom thriller that looks and feels like it was shot in 1988. Michael Douglas phones in his performance as a DA that may or may not be corrupt, while Jesse Metcalfe and Amber Tamblyn are quite wooden and ill-suited for their roles. The only redeeming values of the film come from a good car chase and under-used supporting characters played by Joel David Moore and Orlando Jones. Possibly worth seeing just for the sheerly ridiculous last line.

I cant believe that OSCAR WINNER Michael Douglas agreed to be in this film...I should have known that picking a film with Jesse Metcalfe and Orlando Jones should have warded me off...but, I gave it a chance...the scene with Jesse in his boxers almost made it worth it but, damn I had to suffer through 2 other hours to get that one nugget. Between the classic suspense film device of "Im gonna run top speed from a car and still beat it" or "Im gonna fall down at the most inopportune moment" OR classically horrible writing :

Character 1: You dont have anything to say to me?

Character 2: No nothing. Wait...I do...fuck you.

WTF????

Oh well, AGAIN...I didnt pay for it...so I guess I only wasted two hours of my life. lol

wow another remake... not too many original thoughts going on in Hollywood... shame shame shame... some movies were not meant to be remade. hacks!
