But, when her husband spontaneously decides that they should leave New York for a retirement home as a "pre-emptive strike against decrepitude," and has an affair with someone even younger than she is, Pippa finds her beatific persona unraveling in alarming ways. The truth is, the gracious woman of the present day has seen more than her fair share of the wild side. She has finally found love and security in a family of her own. And now, that cozy world, too, is in danger.

Throughout the whole story of Pippa Lee's life I was engaged in the story. Keanu Reeves is entertaining too as a bad ass 35 year old love interest to the quite older Pippa. I recommend this movie if there is a theater playing it near you, but this is one that will probably be just fine on DVD.

I feel like I have seen other stories where middle-aged women "rediscover" themselves, to much better effect. I was happy to see that Blake Lively can be more than just a vapid socialite on TV. Always a pleasure to see Julianne Moore, here playing a wacky lesbian.
Encore un petit ciné en solo hier, et qu'est ce que ça fait du bien de voie une belle bonne actrice avec des rides!
Not quite as good as the novel, but still enjoyable. It's a good solid drama, good acting, with a little humor thrown in at times.

Director Miller does a wonderful job of juggling the tones of drama and comedy. Miller gets terrific work from her ensemble cast. Robin Wright is front and center as Pippa Lee. She gives one of her most complex and moving performances. There are some flaws in the juggling of the story lines, but the cast and Miller's sharp dialogue are able to carry the film. Maria Bello impresses as Pippa Lee's unstable mother. She is riveting to watch. The film is ultimately a fascinating portrait of a woman learning to take ownership of her life.
Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Blake Lively, Robin Wright Penn, Monice Belucci, all mixed into 1 movie with complex story.
What can i say? Just extra ordinary

Robin Wright Penn is excellent as always, constantly making us think we know Pippa until the actress conveys such ambiguous tendencies that we are gleefully lost in this character. Because the film focuses so much on her, other parts of the film seem under-developed, particularly those regarding the relationships between characters played by Arkin, Ryder, and Belluci. They all give fantastic supporting performances, but they do the best with their underwritten material. Still, "Pippa Lee" is an interesting work that maintains an illusive yet somewhat bright tone while garnering strong performances.

The Mom was quite a character, aunt was Awesome, even though i wished they showed more of her, Monica Belluci surprised me, i was like WF! Winona Ryder was Hilarious and a character you like but hate. BLAKE LIVELY is more matured and more respected after taking this role, overall it came out to be a film i enjoyed in the end
