I think it could have been in much more detail and went into many more species. With that said, the 3D imaging was awesome in this movie. I saw it at one of the largest IMAX screens in the county and was not disappointed at all. Jim Carrey gave it a little bit of entertainment, it was much more interesting than when it's just some random guy with a deep voice doing the commentary. My personal favorite part of the movie is when he said "nobody likes being pinched in the face." I had a great laugh at that line. i may have gotten a dirty look or two from parents when i couldn't stop laughing. The images that were put into this are amazing. It was a fantastic experience to see these amazingly upclose shots of all these bizarre, almost extinct animals. It was a very educational movie for children but adults as well. It spoke about what needs to be done to protect these habitats and what the consequences would be if not. I also appreciated the list of seafood that should not be eaten due to the fact the numbers are so low. It wasn't your typical environmental movie bashing what you do on a daily basis, instead it was presented in a constructive way.

We went for a short documentary in stunning depth, and that's what we got. The IMAX screen really makes the 3D work wonders, and in a setting such as the ocean, it's easy to get lost in those layers. Jim Carrey did a fine job as narrator, but his lines were too preachy and some times and overly informational at others. We just wanted to relax and wash away in the scenery, and he's blasting us (and other little kids, who I'm sure weren't paying attenion) with twenty-letter words. It wasn't hard to block out, though.
An IMAX experience! From garden eels to those fragile sea dragons, Jim Carrey takes you to the life on earth that is special, colourful
and with a touch of humour! Go and see it!
Great candy for the eyes! This IMAX 3D experience was worth it. The photography is amazing.

But it was in shape of a dome and the seats slid to make you lay down a bit, so it totally submerged you in to the movie. I really really enjoyed it and it was not really 3D, the Dome gave the 3D illusion but if it was 3D I bet this would have been even more amazing, but the scenery was so beautiful and the creatures that it did not matter.
I recomend this to everyone, this is also great for a family outing.
I took my 5 year-old son to see this movie. He removed the 3D glasses at times because he didn't want certain creatures in his face. He reached out to touch the sea lions and bubbles. I liked it.
I'd really like to see this one in IMAX 3d, but it's only playing in a few IMAX across the country. Sacramento's the closest to me, which is out of the question.
Critic Reviews
The footage is spectacular, the colors electric, the life aquatic trippier than anything you'll see in even the most wildly imaginative animated fare.full review
Under the Sea 3D is one of the best of the genre. If it doesn't serve oysters, per se, this submarine wonder offers marvels in abundance.full review
The tone is optimistic that these amazing creatures can be saved, and the message that the ocean ecology is worth preserving is delivered without preaching.full review
