This Prequel is the best in the series(not that it says much) But see it at least for how it looks.

The plot is decent enough with Lucian trying to get out of his slavery under Viktor. However, the film never tries to challenge or play with the plot to make it more intriguing other than a certain character's death. The film's CGI though couldn't be worse as it was so obvious to how the budget of the film was handled. The acting is average with Michael Sheen being the only real standout and Bill Nighy being an annoying enemy throughout. I'll give the other two films a try later on but I'm a bit cautious.
How can any geek be so utterly oblivious to be able to create such monstrosity again and again.
How can any geek be so utterly hooked to be able to watch each coming monstrosity.

Pretty brutal aswell, better than the 1st Underworld film, probably on the same level as the 2nd one.Much better than Twilight, mainly cos these Vamipres actually act like Vampires and suck suckaz bloodz!
1st one was cool, the 2nd one had enough story but lacked action and a stronger plot. Though i liked the actress, suited the role. Rhona mitra needs to be seen to be believed she can do better. Let's see.
Critic Reviews
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is surprisingly campy fun, mostly succeeding through the power of its lead performances.full review
Silly, convoluted supernatural prequel is partially redeemed by its Goth style and reputable lead actors.full review
Round 3 in the vampire-werewolf battle to the undeath rises to the occasion.full review
Sheen and Nighy do their best with the material, but this is easily the worst Underworld so far.full review
Director Patrick Tatopoulos was responsible for the creature effects in the two earlier installments, but he's not great at staging fights or directing actors.full review
The film tends to forget that these are supernatural creatures (it's not scary at all), and it quickly turns into a pretty standard-issue "revolt of the slaves" action picture (with very poor action scenes).full review
. . .a prequel that discards Beckinsale's character altogether (all the better to keep the budget down) while providing an origin story chock-full of the kind of ponderously uninteresting backstory that practically no one was clamoring for.full review
Tatopoulos has trimmed the fat for a more-satisfying bloodsucker brawl than we have any right to hope for in a January release.full review
Superfluous yet modestly entertaining thanks to Nighy and the franchise's blend of camp and visually diverting mayhem.full review
derivative and silly, and still inescapably inessential. But on a cold day in late January, it's a lot of funfull review
