It started out with a man and his newlywed wife adopting a cute little puppy for $200. The breeder obviously knew there was something wrong with him. That is why he cost less money. He was named Marley after Bob Marley. He was a hyperactive out of control dog who was afraid of thunder. A dog lover is driven crazy by him. Even obedience school couldn't help him. Then the guy's wife has a miscarriage. She wants to get rid of Marley. Then they eventually have three children. Then she starts to like Marley. Then Marley gets sick. Everyone is upset. Then Marley has to be put asleep.

whenever a dog is the main character, you know the movie is gonna suck.
unless it can talk.
kind of dejavo... reminded me of a rescued dog from battersea dogs' home.... so much humour tear and fustration...all very gentle sensitive human stuff and the canine fun as well...... really enjoyed it watching with wife and her grand daughter.....
You can enjoy this movie even if you have never own a dog. Sweet but not too cheesy, the plot is more realistic than most Hollywood movie.
Critic Reviews
Frankel turns the camera toward the canines as frequently as possible, but too often we're stuck with Wilson and Aniston's bland characters. You wonder if it might have been better to let sleeping dogs lie.full review
The movie is ultimately less about the pain of loss than about the way families often take shape around a pet.full review
David Frankel adapts John Grogan's sentimental bestseller with no artistic pretensions beyond alternately making you feel like your heart is caving in, then injecting you with a gigantic syringe of good cheer.full review
The production manages, against heavy odds, to make its canine star an incorrigible bore. The problem is bad parenting.full review
Animal lovers will probably enjoy the movie, which has more appeal than the majority of its fellow Christmas Day cinematic arrivals.full review
I swear, my handkerchief was only out because I've been fighting a cold the past few days.full review
Ostensibly a story about a mad, bad, dangerous-to-walk dog, Marley & Me has far more to say about the bonds that make up the modern American family.full review
Marley's misadventures play like a TV movie, never reaching the heights of such endearing canine-centered films as 2000's My Dog Skip.full review
