I was so impressed by how Director Dench captured the complexities of this relationship. As always, the performances of Thompson and Branagh are outstanding. He is the anger-management-needing, verbally abusive husband and she internalizes it all. While her lack of reactions drove him mad, it was the only way she knew to cope. Very realistic and almost painful to watch, but very well-crafted.
