I'm a sucker for English mob flicks, and this is definitely among the better ones I've seen. If you're familiar with Guy Ritchie, you'll feel as though you've seen this before, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
was an interesting plot with multiple story lines that kept it very interesting ... liked it more than I expected
It should have been so good. Cracking title, bit of silly old mockney nonsense - perfect post Christmas slob out entertainment. Sadly no. Annoying characters that lack even perfunctory charm. Move on Ritchie, move on.
Classic Guy Ritchie. He always makes ensamble movie with complicated, winding gangster stories. Not bad but kind of complicated and hard to follow. I watched this movie right before I went to see Sherlock Holmes, this was my first Ritchie movie and it made me question all this praise I had herd about hims. He has a style, with out question but it is kinda weird.
It's fun to watch Guy Ritchie slowly perfect his methods in each English gangster caper he makes. Though I doubt he'll top Snatch, RocknRolla is a fun movie with a lot of funny Ritchie moments. Buena pelicula, me rei mucho con algunas cosas. Yo amo al actor que hace de Archy!!
entertaining British absurdity. i like Tom Wilkinson, and Gerald Butler and Thandie Newton are fun to watch. i have to give Ritchie some credit because i did not predict the ending.

Entertaining but pales in comparison to earlier fare "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch". Ritchie is a talented filmmaker but has mined this genre for all its worth. Time for him to move on to others.
It is very generic and cliched, but what the hell, I had a good time. I love Ritchie's camera and editing choices as well as the music.
I couldn't understand a lick of what was going on (and didn't care to), but what was essentially a repeat of Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake, etc., -was- fun. The script could've used work; oh, and there's a great sex scene that'll give you a chuckle.... Seeing Sherlock Holmes makes me want Ritchie to make more of this (even if it is the same movie over and over again).
I enjoyed it. Loved Gerard Butler once more. A classic Guy Richie film and his best of that kind I think.

It's a sad experience to watch RocknRolla, the obituary for the Guy Ritchie brand of English gangster flicks.full review
RocknRolla isn't as jammed with visual pyrotechnics as Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Smoking Barrel (1998), but that's OK, because with anything more happening, the movie could induce motion sickness.full review
If RocknRolla clings to the company of ne'er-do-wells, it's not because they bristle with the frustrations of society, but purely because Ritchie wants to borrow their cheeky charm -- a virtue that, in reality, none of them possess.full review
Great title for a gangster flick. Too bad that writer-director Guy Ritchie only partially realizes the sizzling potential.full review
If, as his critics contend, Ritchie is just making the same movie over and over again, at least he's getting better at it.full review
RocknRolla is a well-acted and attitudinal action movie, a return to Ritchie's trademark 'Mockney' style, which takes amusing and twisted turns.full review
It's like a lumpy, overworked, useless 'objet' that someone who doesn't know you very well might give you as a gift, a thing that sits around the house serving no unearthly purpose other than reminding you, none too subtly, that it's completely hollo... RocknRolla's a shocker -- a Guy Ritchie film full of wit and feeling.full review
Ritchie has once again made a movie with far too many characters in it, and way too little of much interest for them to do (or, Lord knows, say).full review
