I will only give this 1 star rating as i didn't understand the story line. The trailer for this looks good but I advice you take my word for it this film sucks big time.

The action was great, and some of the cinematography was particularly refreshing. Most notably was the performance by Michael C Hall, and John Leguizamo (always a favorite of mine).
Gamer's plot fell on its face somewhere in the middle though, leaving one with the impression, that the film's writer had to add some filler to give you the full 90 mins of film - before ramping it back up in the end.
Could have been much much better though...
I didn't get a good copy of it but from what I saw, it was pretty interesting. real life Sims and what ppl willing to do for money
Plenty of movies like this... The Running Man, Death Race + The Sims.
Nice special effects tough...

This bizarre conspiracy film doesn't take itself seriously, but aside from Michael C. Hall, not a single part or player tries to make it fun. It's not hardcore enough for shock value or poignant enough to make you think that any of these plot elements could be a future danger to society. I think I actually spent more time recovering from non-action dizziness than I did watching an overexposed Gerard Butler blow things away. Lastly, it manages to both miscast Alison Lohman and cast Kyra Sedgwick at all - I doubt any film can properly recover from that pitfall alone.
Poorly directed & overly-stylish. An extremely weak attempt at satire. The only redeeming thing about this film is Michael C. Hall as the antagonist. They attempted to make a high-concept version of Crank and ended up with...whatever this is.
Way to miss the mark. Way off the mark, like the pilot who overshot his landing by 100 miles. This film tries to be a damning indictment of societies ills, but embraces them instead in an exploitative mess.

The garbled buffet line of morals and lessons it has to offer is too soaked in bloody, oversexed scenes to be taken seriously. And for a film thats obviously catering to horny adolescent gamers, it falls flat by injecting a Frank Sinatra dance number into the plot.
The cinematography attempts a bright, futuristic look, but the action scenes just look as if someone dropped acid, wandered into a rave, and went into a seizure.
Performance wise, there really is no character in the movie, other than the usual selections on the shelf of limited imagination. Gerard Butler continues to try my patience with his choice of roles, still he's a few steps up from Jason Statham.
I cared for this movie so little i took this long to call it's bullshit. I hate when regurgitated Hollywood crap gets pretentious and thinks they're making "Blade Runner".
Gamer is a mixture of Death Race + Avalon + Surrogates!
Personally I found this film has a very similar plot to Jason Statham's DEATH RACE!

So basically if u've seen Death Race, hated it, then don't bother seeing this one, unless ur a big fan of the great Leonidas!
Two-dimensional villains, main character showing no emotion whatsoever, nudity , I'm kinda glad this film doesn't make it into Indonesian cinemas! Thanks for sparing me IDR30,000, Blitz! LOL~
And any Heroes fan should see this, bcuz Milo Ventimiglia's part of the cast! And ur gonna be laughing out loud seeing his part here, totally hilarious and unnecessary! Poor John Leguizamo, is this, like, his smallest role in a film?
