Captures the (or creates a) scenery and essence of Europe/Spain so well, you'll have a hard time not wanting to journey their yourself.
Wat een ontgoochelende film !!!
Veel bla bla, maar weinig ... verhaal ;-)
Portraits nicely the cultural differences between USA (I guess) and the south of Europe. Quite charged and fun to watch. Beautiful acting between Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. Drama and comedy.Quite liked that one...
I'm not a huge Woody Allen fan, but this was my favorite film of his by far! Mostly because of the actors, scenery and because it was so sexy! I fell in love with Javier Bardem for the first time and for the second time, Penelope Cruz!
Penelope Cruz is amazing, she deserved the Oscar, but as for the movie as a whole, I have a feeling the only reason it was made was so Woody Allen could see Scarlett Johansson make out with a girl (and she's terrible in this movie by the way, nothing... I finally watched this after months of actually owning it!
While I didn't perhaps like it quite as much as I wanted to I did really enjoy it!

The scenery and setting is beautiful. The life is what many of us would probably want! Spending a summer in Spain just enjoying the locality and artistry sounds lovely to me anyway!
Not being a fan of Johansson I did find her bearable in this film... Cruz was fantastic as the insane ex. Rebecca Hall I found quite intriguing and also had a lot of sympathy for. Bardem was quite charming and you could understand why women would succumb to his charms! Well I would anyway! lol! I'd recommend this film to others :)
I had wanted to see it for ages, and i was a little disappointed.... Maybe I expected too much, but i always tend to prefer minor films by Woody Allen
I so wanted to not like this movie, but I ended up truly enjoying this quirky, sexy, romantic comedy. Scarlett shines, Javier Bardem is just plain sexy, and Penelope was surprisingly funny. A true gem!
Woody Allen uploads his mind into the body of a handsome young Spaniard, so that Allen can perv out like he's never perved out before.
Critic Reviews
The erotic roundelays are so witty - Marivaux with sex - that I am now afraid to see a future Allen film. It will either be bad, returning us to the natural order of things, or good like this, demanding a rethink of the universe.full review
When great artists maintain their health and energy into their 70s, amazing things can happen -- and they're happening with Woody Allen.full review
As usual, Allen works simply and quickly getting the most out of his rich and wry screenplay, a witty dissertation of the left turns our love lives can so easily take.full review
Vicky Cristina Barcelona comes closer than anything to exploring Allen's famous quote (made in a time of personal scandal), "the heart wants what it wants."full review
As exhilarating, captivating and enjoyable as a summer romance in an exotic city.full review
He is a little like Eric Rohmer here. The actors are attractive, the city is magnificent, the love scenes don't get all sweaty, and everybody finishes the summer a little wiser and with a lifetime of memories. What more could you ask?full review
Watching Allen fart out a story when he has no characters is always painful.full review
[Allen's] most entertaining picture since Bullets Over Broadway or maybe Sweet and Lowdown.full review
Something is terribly amiss when the American actors sound like English is their second language.full review
