This was entertaining fluff but a bit of a mess and not well thought out. Renee Zellweger is not geared for serious roles, particularly in trashy horror films, she was a terrible choice for this movie. Entertaining but not very good.

That aside this is actually a very enjoyable film. It drags you in and makes you feel sorry for the little girl in the beginning as you don't expect her to be the way she is. Once we find out a bit more information on her that is where the story picks up. Even though this movie really doesn't offer much new the suspense is still there.
I will not reveal much else but overall it is an enjoyable film. There are some lose knots in the story at times, abut that aside character interactions were almost all perfect.
First on Flixster to review it? WOW! Creepy, tense & very entertaining. Good to see Rene Zellwegger doing something different & pulling it off well. Good casting. That kid just needed a good old fashioned smack...if anyone would dare LOL

This concept is repeatedly copy from the Exorcist in recent years (Orphan, Omen), where a demon or other devil lies behind the facade of a child. The tricks are very standard and really there is nothing new in store for this one. Zellweger on the other hand, is quite strange in this one, where she is more material for the evil character then the hunted one. I think the producer's could changed the cliche and give Zellweger the part of an evil social worker against the really innocent children. That would be an ideal role for her, because her cold look sometimes can freeze over the hell, and in a second she can mask it with a fake cute smile. Here is a tip for a producers: So take the same cast and turn this one into a really scary movie.
Had potential but ultimately fell short. Basically "Orphan" with a supernatural twist. Ian McShane is great as usual, though.
Boring....another bad seed, that's just bad! Should have left her in the oven and called it a day!
