Testud is pretty good, and the story advances in a quiet but determined way. Unfortunately the premise is bit tainted by it's romantic motivation, Why must a female scientist be depicted so much as a maniac filled with romantic suppositions.
Interesting to see what kind of detailed research those art researchers do. A bit of too many loose ends and characters that did not have any proper effect on the story.
Odd movie. Very french. The evident symbolism in the movie eludes my interpretation, I can't quite catch the meaning of it. Perhaps if I figure it out, 'll start to like this film.
A thought provoking and interesting film. Towards the end art took a more important role leaving the characters, and their relationship aside.
Interesting story and an excellent performance by Testud, you can really feel her obsession building throughout the movie. The sub-plot with the deaf guy is a bit weak, they could've gone deeper with it, but overal it's a good, thought-provoking film... Magnificent! Sylvie Testud succeeds in her role, making the obsession of an art history student almost tangible, being on the verge of insanity.
