I have loved this movie since my next door neighbor introduced me to it in jr. high. I love the story about Shangri La - and the music is wonderful. One of the best musicals ever even though it often gets panned. Love it love it love it!

I loved the book, liked the original Ronald Coleman film, and this version is simply magical. When I first saw it at age 18, this vision of Shangri-La was pretty close to my concept of heaven. When I first saw it at age 18, this vision of Shangri-La was pretty close to my concept of heaven. I like most of the songs, with the single exception of "Question Me an Answer," which seems very misplaced within the context of the film. The costuming is absolutely wonderful, both elegant and comfortable-looking. (I want some of those ladies' outfits!)

It made me sad to read in a later interview with Peter Finch that he regretted his involvement in this film, though. Perhaps, another (younger) actor would have been better cast, in that case. Everyone else was certainly fine!

Very moving story. Saw it as a child a little before my first trip to Asia and it really enhanced my interest in that part of the world. Didn't like the emphasis on Westerners having a higher status in the community though (although I'm Western).

The 1930 black and white version original was great, but this is the one has its own special magic. I saw it as a kid and I still remember it. Love to find the DVD

It has Michael York in it, for one. Also, it is just... weird. The music is okay, but for the most part... just... no.

"The world is a circle without a beginning and nobody knows where it really ends..." Timeless. Classic.
