Definitely the most underrated Welles film, almost an essay on storytelling and playing god, The Immortal Story has less of the technical flourishes that we expect of Welles, but his deft hand at structure is still obvious.

mainly for welles' hardcore fans, but still good. based on a short story by blixen, the direction is impeccable, as usual, full of strange angles and a mesmerising voice-over... oh, and satie on the soundtrack!

Rare but interesting film with two great cinema icons at the center of the attention. Not one of Welles' greatest achievements, the original Karen Blixen/Isac Dinesen story is superior, but still better than most films.

This is nearly impossible to find so you have to wait for it to come on TCM. It's impossibly wonderful.

A haunting story of a man who believes himself so rich and powerful that he can buy anyone and manipulate them to do his bidding. But perhaps not everyone can be bought. This story will stay with you a long time after watching it.

Un Welles peu connu, à voir surtout en version anglaise, le doublage français par Philippe Noiret étant particulièrement nul.

Disappointing Welles film. You'd think he moreso than anyone could take a stiff short story and make it cinematic, but it's still a mostly boring effort. A few nice touches in the camerawork, but not a very compelling or cohesive story.
