Absolutely brilliant. The scene of Lillian Gish alone in the wind storm is easily one of the most incredible scenes of the silent film era.

Wonderful film. Should be restored. More stars except for the phony Hollywood happy ending. Last silent film by the father of Swedish cinema, Victor Sjöström aka Victor Seastrom.

This is not lighthearted fare, and the climax is as intense as any modern movie I've seen. The craftsmanship on display is impressive, not just for 1928 but for any era. Most of the really good stuff comes in the third act, but I wouldn't say that the buildup is boring or anything.

Classic late-period silent movie with the immensely fascinating Lillian Gish. She moves to the desert. She goes mad. She's pretty. Nice one.

One of the last silent films I really enjoyed... the building suspense at the end is gruesome! Watch it!!

Lillian Gish is 5'51/2'' of pure genius. On par with anything made in 27-29, including Sunrise, The Docks of New York, and Seventh Heaven. Would make a great double bill with Woman in the Dunes.

It's a really startling film--very atmospheric and moody--even when compared to talkies. It might have been even better had they stuck to the original ending, but it's still an amazing film.
