Soon, Hammer began releasing its series of "mini-Hitchcocks" to try and cash in on the success of Norman Bates. They were never as much fun (or as good) as the gothics but were generally fun. This B&W film benefits from a good performance by the late great Oliver Reed as an unhinged psychopath who realizes that the man who claims to be his long-lost brother is an imposter because (spoiler alert) he has the brother's corpse stored away in the sub-basement of his macabre mansion.

Cool little Hammer thriller starring Oliver Reed that is filled with narrative twists and turns, solid performances, and plenty of twisted, macabre madness.

I thought that the B&W Presentation would put me off BUT it added to the Horror & suspense.

Oliver Reed is chilling in his portrayal of madness. The cinematography and editing are pretty daring, and the story perpetually undermines itself. pretty good.

Paranoiac is the positive result of breaking outside studio traditions and the confines of audience expectation.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It's much better than it has a right to be, and it kept me guessing till the end. Oliver Reed gives a very angry performance and Janette Scott is amazing as usual. Wonderful cinematography as well.

Oliver Reed is brilliant in this role. Similar to the character of Norman Bates, I still prefer this film over "Psycho". A Hammer Horror classic!
