Meh. I thought this was OK, not as laugh-out-loud as I envisioned it being, but still funny, sweet and poignant. Mos Def steals it from Black, in my opinion, though.
Kind of mediocre, the idea has been done several times in different ways i feel.
Not a great movie but as a long time Mos Def fan I enjoyed it, and the soundtrack was good and some love for my boy Fats Waller. This movie is for people who really love movies and music. I mean really love them.
Very Funny Film Jack Black and Mos Def are great together. I see them as the odd couple of the 21st Century. Jack is loud and precocious while Mos plays the quiet introvert. Lots of fun for anyone to watch.
Urgh. Terrible. Was expecting more from Gondry. From Eternal Sunshine to this? As for Jack Black, this is even worse than Envy!
Haaaated it. I really, really thought this was going to be a friggen awesome, funny film but I found myself lost in the storyline and not caring about the film at all.
I didnt really understand this one. Has its funny moments though. I found myself wondering, why am i watching this? And where is it going?

Takes a clever concept and cobbles a weak story around it.full review
It's inviting, undemanding and altogether wonderful. You'll want to see it again, or at least Swede it yourself.full review
A feel-good film with a gentle comic spirit, a sweet affection for its gallery of silly characters and a sincere love for the process of moviemaking.full review
I felt positive and genial while watching it, but I didn't break out in paroxysms of laughter. It's the kind of amusing film you can wait to see on DVD. I wonder if it will come out on VHS?full review
Gondry, as writer and director, can't stop the creative helium from leaking out of his cinematic balloon.full review
Be Kind Rewind explores the meaning of originality, but it's also a fable about art and social change.full review
Most of Be Kind Rewind feels as silly and undisciplined as the mini-movies cooked up by its hapless heroes.full review
Gondry might think he's parodying dumb comedies in which poor people rally to save beloved institutions from foreclosure -- but too often Be Kind Rewind just resembles them.full review
Michel Gondry has taken a stunning leap forward with Be Kind Rewind. It's his most successful film.full review
