A misunderstood character trying to do something heroic is turned into a monster. Instead it's turnded into a slasher picture where the deaths rarely vary, and can be seen coming a mile away. It actually got worse the more it progressed. At one point there was a young lady who studied a little voodoo, but they quickly got rid of her and chased the uninteresting characters around. This has to be the only movie that wrote cool backgrounds for everyone but the leads and then killed off the only characters you care about. Oh well. it looked like it was made for about thirty five bucks so me and the other two people in the theater nearly made up the cost. we will be seeing a video sequel.

I mean, generally a snake bite either kills someone, lands them in the hospital, or simply annoys the crap out of them. In this case though, the snakes who did the biting were the property of a voodoo priestess who used them to absorb all the evil out of rapists, killers, sadists, the producers of Britney Spears' last album, and other such nasty people. Because of this, when the snake takes a hunk out of the hillbilly truck driver he's instantly filled with all the uglinesss. Yep, it plays out in the film about as stupid as it sounds in this review. Despite the idiotic premise, I will give the movie credit for feeling completely and totally different than the recent horror films/J-Horror remakes that Hollywood has been throwing at us lately. In fact, "Venom" is in some ways more of a throwback to the late 80's early 90's American slasher flicks, and if you ask me, that's a plus. Right? No? Okay, maybe not, but I thought I would try and say something nice about the film before I started tearing into it. The gore is decent. Not great, but decent. The actors are your standard annoyingly perky teeny fare. The sets are crummy. The film feels sloppily constructed and weirdly paced (even for a low budget horror film). The ending is just god awful and extremely anti-climatic. It's the kind of ending that'll leave you staring at the screen mumbling curses under your breath at director Jim Gillespie. If your really in the mood for some blood, a little gore, and are sick of ghost films that feature the same gray japanese girl with stringy hair we see all the time now, and want to try out something that feels different, then maybe give "Venom" a try. I'm not saying it's good in any way whatsoever, but it is a nice change of pace.
Very very very disappointing. It was all good til the alien took over then it was all down hill. Do not think this is Venom from Spiderman, just a horror flick based loosely around it.
its a good attempt at horror but with a not so good budget, plus agnes bruckner is soooo hot!!!

Venom comes complete with an incoherent script -- as murky as the Louisiana swamps -- and religious mumbo jumbo. Decent acting and special effects helps a little, but no, not all the way.
Voodoo er i utgangspunktet interessant synes jeg, men denne filmen er hverken spennende, skummel eller interessant. Ingen overraskelser. En helt gjennomsnittlig, overfladisk "college"-skrekkfilm som vil bli fort glemt.
damn, i haven't seen such a lame movie in a long while! so pathetic and expected, and a villain that looks like a really bad imitation of freddie cruger. at least the actresses are worth watching :)

The film they make here is obviously trying to create another horror icon franchise that fails miserably. The villain is a man with a past who is trying to be a good man who tries to rescue a voodoo priestess from a car crash the voodoo princess is carrying a basket that contains snakes that she used to drain the evil souls that possess people. so when the mechanic Named Mr. Jangles tries to save her he is bitten by all the snakes why she is carrying all the snakes at once is never explained. He the is possessed by all these evil souls and goes on a killing spree and takes his time doing it even though he looks like a undead monster. He also sees to primarily kill only his son and his sons teenaged friends.
The film doesnât even attempt to be something special when it was released there was little to no promotion and was only out for a week before it disappeared into straight to video. Where it belongs this film shows no effort or even any real scares it is just boredom until a new kill happens that is as unimpressive as the next. The cast is filled with what was then up and comers whose careers didnât seem to go anywhere after this film. One of my primary reasons for disliking this film is that there isnât even a good reason for these characters to be killed they arenât 100% innocent but they arenât bad either they are just there in there stock roles so as they are killed you really feel nothing because they are not real characters they are just there like stand-ins.
Considering how many screenwriters were involved there should have been a good idea or scene involved but as with most movies written by committee everything that can be original is filtered out just so there can be the same old thing that has worked in similar films but at least in the similar films it was original when they tried it. Somehow it took two people to think of something so unoriginal is amazing
