Essential film with powerful and passionate performances from Robert Carlyle and Ricky Tomlinson. A brilliant portrayal of life during some of the worst of the dismal Thatcher years.

A great little unknown film showing the indelible plight of lower-class British citizens living and surviving life. Diirector Loach's indie film is a golden gemstone.

no one else does that tragi-comedy like loach. never sentimental, unflinching and in america they need subtitles - genius

Truly awesome dig at Thatcher's Britain. If only Winterbottom or Minghella had balls this big, thank God for Shane Meadows.
