Paul McGann is awesome as the doctor, but thats about the only good thing. Easily one of the most believable doctors (hence the rating).

Now that I'm an addict of the current seasons and after seeing the previous doctors with all the different personalities on all the different adventures, this 8th doctor is actually a "Brillant" doctor but it is kinda hard to see how 8 becomes the destroyer of worlds? Anyways in the continuity of doctor who, the story fits into the typical day of the doctor. My one hatred with this movie is two words, starts with E and ends in Roberts. Just look at my reviews for other Roberts' movies. You'll see how much I can't his hideous style of acting.

Loved Paul McGann as the Doctor; it's sad that he wasn't able to do more. Eric Roberts as the Master, though? Blah. This film is a great example of mid-90's-made-for-TV goodness and I enjoyed it immensely :D

After four years of garbage this was pure joy. A great new Doctor, some fabulous sets, some genuine edge-of-your-seat moments, a companion who can act again and a new, and very effective, Master (not just a bad 'clone', like Roger Delgado's pale immitator, Anthony Ainley).

Maybe just watching this on its own wouldn't make it seem so good, but after years of truly terrible Doctor Who stories, it was great that it finally had a 'bang' to go out with rather than a 'whimper'.

There are some obvious problems with the script, but Paul McGann's Doctor and Sylvester MCCoy's brilliant exit, combined with Eric Robert's truly evil Master really helped to keep my mind off of it. Despite being set in America, the kisses and the drastically different (yet stunningly brilliant) TARDIS interior, this tv movie feels much more like classic Doctor Who than the new series does. It's a terrible shame that we never got a full series for the Eighth Doctor, as he could have been the best since Tom Baker.

Some of the 1960's episodes had much more interesting storylines and though the master is an excellent villain I can't help but think this film needs more dalek. Excellent attention to detail continuity wise though! That really impressed me, the master's eye were even as they were when we last saw him infected by the cheetah virus in Survival which was a nice touch I thought.

Paul McGann is good as the Doctor but that's about it. The Americanized script for the most part fails miserably to bring the Dr Who magic. It is an interesting bridge though between the first run of the TV series and the current run.

(read more) the best i can say is that it was at least something to hold doctor who fans during the nearly twenty year hiatus of the series from television. it was hoped at the time that fox or some other american television company would begin producing a new series, but that, of course, never happened. the major faults with the movie were those parts that were americanized--gratuitious love story, kids with guns, long chase scenes. the other disappointing parts of the storyline were those parts that tampered with the mythology. the doctor is said to be half human, the eye of harmony is in the tardis, rather than a black hole in the center of galifrey, and why would the doctor be asked to go to skaro (the home of the daleks) to pick up the masters remains--the daleks wouldn't let the doctor just walk in and out without trying to kill him.

syvester mccoy's appearance was excellent as was paul mcgann's. other than that, the only thing that made the movie bearable at the time was that doctor who fans were starving for anything, however lame to satisfy them--and that's what they got, anything lame.
