As union leader Johnny Kovak, Stallone's performance confirmed his stature as one of Hollywood's hottest stars. Closely paralleling history, the film follows the rise and fall of Kovak, from his beginnings as an idealistic blue-collar worker to his final position as head of one of the country's most powerful unions: the Federation of Inter-State Truckers. But there are no unscarred heroes in this world. To achieve his dream of justice for the working man, Kovak must accept the muscle of organized crime. Ultimately, F.I.S.T. is a story of idealism corrupted and betrayed. Oscar® winner Rod Steiger (1967 Best Actor, In the Heat of the Night), Peter Boyle and Brian Dennehy are featured in the fine supporting cast. Directed by Norman Jewison, with Laszlo Kovac's darkly moody cinematography and a heroic score by Rocky composer Bill Conti, F.I.S.T. is "a particularly American kind of epic" (Vincent Canby, The New York Times).

An unknown movie, a pity because it is a good one even if at the beginning the movie seems to evolve slowly. A great Stalonne's performance & the plot - inspired by the Jimmy Hoffa's life - is really interesting. A movie to be watched.
A different role for stallone early in his career and he had a great performance. Watch who you deal with when conducting business. There's bad apples out there!
Very underrated and under appreciated. Stallone gives one of his most diverse and best performances. A man who wants to give his people everything they should, of course the means to get it is not in his control, unitentionally, it backfires on him.
F.I.S.T. is a film which doesn't really work but which is interesting for the ways in which it fails.

Watch this movie if you want to hate yourself afterwards. It's boring. The only reason I watched it was because my awful professor was an extra in it.... turns out the movie was as awful as he is a professor.
if you didnt put 5 stars, i assume youre not union, and i hope the ghost of johnny kovak appears at the foot of your bed in the middle of the night, tapping a beating stick on your floor.
Watched this for the first time, Stallone did a pretty decent job in a dramatic role. Movie was a bit long and loses some momentum towards the end. Overall, a good film for Stallone fans...Ending felt rushed and tagged on...
I really loved Stallone in this movie, but I love Stallone in just about EVERY movie...lol. Sly's performance was very good, and all and all, this was a very good movie for the seventies. the ending could have used a little re-writing though...
Not Stallone's best movie but without him this movie would be very poor. 3/5 because I just love Sylvester Stallone.
