Loosely based on Damon Runyon's stories, Mitzi Gaynor shines as the lil' songstress from Georgia who makes good in NYC and reforms bad boy bookie Scott Brady. The characters are delightfully Ruyon-esque, the dialogue's full of Guys and Dolls style zingers, and the musical numbers are bright and colorful and well-staged. It's actually paced better than the movie version of Runyon's most famous tale, "Guys and Dolls."
