Seriously, in the age of superhero movies like The Dark Knight and Watchmen, Iron Man is yet another smug, irreverant, and most of all, MEDIOCRE, piece of filmmaking. It is really only Robert Downey, Jr's role that earns the 2 1/2 stars that I gave the film, because the rest of it was..how do I say it succintly? Ah yes...YAWN. It was utterly predicatble, and the CGI was oh-so-shite, that it makes me question the judgement of friends who normally exhibit good taste when it comes to CGI in films because they mentioned how cool the CGI was. I'm sorry to stand out from the pack on this, but I really do not understand how this movie is even mentioned in the same breadth and class as Chistopher Nolan's masterful Batman films. HOW does this movie differentiate itself from the rest of the pack?? It is about as cookie-cutter filmmaking as they come! I think what I really found to be tacky here was the pathetic attempts at trying to relevant and making statements about warfare and violence. I'm sorry, but when you try to make intelligent commentary about warfare and weapons and weapons manufacturers, having it in the context of what is a glorified video game (combined with the sensitivity of a Michael Bay cinematic turd) only makes the whole thing more ridiculous and enraging. But maybe I am digressing, because at the end of the day it's about being entertaining right? Well, my final verdict still stands: It was only marginally more watchable than the first Hulk movie, seriously.

P.S. The other thing that I liked was Tom Morello's somewhat ironic cameo as an Afghan terrorist--that was admittedly hilarious.

Great adventure fantasy. Robert Downey Jr. makes this movie great. The y just have to be aware of that for the sequels. Keep Downey on screen and the movies will succeed.

The characters were complex and I could emotionally relate to them. Robert Downey Jr. did a good job with the acting and so did Samuel L. Jackson. The soundtrack was very good.The special effects were very good also.

Being a huge Iron-Man fan, I was in high expectation. And I was certainly not dissapointed. Downey Jr's performance as Tony Stark was right on the money, as well as Jeff Bridges's classy role as the bad guy Obadiah Stane. What was also nice to see was that they stayed true to the comics from beginning to end. The only problem was the short fight scene at the end which could have lasted longer.

Wow! Saw this movie when it first came out. Fun, smart and exciting. Downey Jr. had a hell of a summer between this and "Tropic Thunder". Here's hoping the sequel is as good.

At the end of the day it's Robert Downey Jr. who powers the lift-off separating this from most other superhero movies.
