In Paramount Pictures' and Clombia Pictures' remake of the 1972 film, starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, we get another football film of where 'only winning the game matters', but with attitude. Coursing through the film is Adam Sandler's common crude humor (along with his cast of convict characters), which, as you might expect, is loaded with sexual and offensive humor. But for those who enjoy suspensful moments, the last quarter of the film is something to brag about, when the characters play their football game. Because of the different setting used for this football movie, there are moments that not only keeps the tension in their game, but with what's going on between the characters as well, and because it's both different and plausible, it even makes in enjoyable. On the con side, whenever the film tried to bring some insightful moments, it didn't pull together only because of the shaddy backgrounds of the characters and the constant childish and rude behavior they set themselves as. As a final comment, this remake of "The Longest Yard" brings something fresh in the football movie genre, and if you enjoy a lot of crass humor, you will surely get a kick out of it. Along with some canny one-liners and a decent climax, you may find this film to be an interesting mix of what is both dumb and quaint.
I didn't think I would like this movie since I am not a huge football fan, but my hubby convinced me to watch it with him. I really enjoyed the plot, "football in prison".

What was already a raucous put-on, a goof on Aldrich's brutal action movies, is now a hyperbolic, gross-out cartoon, with a cast of enormous ex-football stars only adding to the air of facetiousness.full review
It's indifferent, charisma-free filmmaking.full review
An odd mix of amusing nonsense and nastiness that chugs along, hit and miss, until the last section, which is the best part of the movie and its real reason for being: the game.full review
A serviceable bone-cruncher of a sports comedy, just tough enough and funny enough to reach the end zone.full review
The Longest Yard more or less achieves what most of the people attending it will expect.full review
The characters sound like they were dreamed up during the drive to the set.full review
The film primarily replaces its predecessor's gritty swagger with WWE and MTV-esque posturing.full review
