A thriller that tries to keep you on the edge, but is way too messy, too many plotholes, an overreliance on cellphones and Pacino looks like he slept through the whole thing. It just manages to be entertaining, but just barely.
How come I don't remember Alicia Witt being in the previews? She had a much bigger part than Leelee Sobieschek or the O.C kid.
This movie is very weak. Frankly the killer could be anyone, so there is no point in guessing. Apparently, there is no rhyme or reason for your actions if you are psychologically insane.

"G" says: The Recruit, Two For The Money, Righteous Kill, Gigli, and 88 Minutes!! If I were Al Pacino, I would be hunting for a new agent right about now.
A underrated and very interesting movie. al is at his best and the movie kept me guessing
Absolute and utter crap!!!
It is not enough to be Al Pacino to carry a movie. And not even Al Pacino believes in this movie, or in himself in this role.
I fell asleep twice... and it still seemed too long!

Lots of suspense not the best Al Pacino movie but its ok.

The concept of the story is simple and a bit too cheesy to have a superb actor like Al Pacino in it. Nevertheless, Dr. Jack Gramm (Pacino) is responsible for putting a notorious serial killer and rapist behind bars known as Jon Forster (Neal McDonough). 9 years later, Gramm receives an anonymous phone call saying that he has only 88 minutes to live. Why 88 minutes? You just have to watch it to find out. The problem of this movie is that the plot can be very confusing, and it feels like every person that Gramm meets throughout the story are suspects so the end climax doesn't have that surprise feeling. There's no twist at all and very... not special. The positive side is that it keeps the audience seated, intrigued and interested until, unfortunately, a poor climax.
Your average hollywood thriller, rather predictable. It gets and an extra star because Pacino is in it and manages to add an interesting performance as usual.
decent thriller but found it too predictable. also, these young chicks shouldnt wanna bang an old fart like pacino.
This movie is about 88 minutes too long. And I kept thinking Pacino was Jody Swilky.
Decent who dun it thriller, was on the edge and hard to find out who are why this is happening to him, worth a watch.
Critic Reviews
Nothing would give me keener pleasure than to reveal the identity of the killer, but a day after seeing the film I have genuinely forgotten.full review
The galumphing serial-killer picture 88 Minutes is dumb enough to be straight out of the parodies in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.full review
An inane thriller whose major fear factor hinges on a menacing phone call, the film also relies on a silly phrase intended to fill the viewer with unspeakable terror: 'Tick tock, Doc.'full review
Fortunately for the great Al--and us--this one ought to be in and out of theatres in just about 88 hours.full review
Avnet lays all this stuff out before us with a straight face -- the picture is humorless and witless.full review
Try as he might to 'hoo-ha' some life into this stupendously stupid thriller, Al Pacino can't disguise the desperation of this CSI wanna-be.full review
What a bore. I guessed the identity of the killer from the character's second appearance, and I'm not that smart.full review
This new serial-killer thriller is such a preposterous mess it's a wonder it ever made it to the theatre.full review
Preposterous in design, abysmal in execution and laugh-out-loud funny when it's straining for drama, the film doesn't even honor the lean-and-mean promise of its title.full review
88 Minutes plays like a script Tom Cruise rejected back in the '90s, forcing Pacino to run -- across campus, across town, through parking garages, up and down stairs.full review
