This illuminating documentary looks at the "n" word's history and ever-changing usage -- which runs the gamut from a repugnant slur to a term of endearment. A slate of celebrities and other familiar figures are interviewed, including Quincy Jones, Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock.

You know, people give words a lot of power. And some are justified... some aren't. I'd say, find out what something means before you say it.

It's a good documentary, but they could have done some things differently. They tried to stylize it up and that didn't work too well. Still it's worth a watch.

This is ultimately not the worst thing that could happen - balance has been all but lost nowadays - but in the end, the film feels like a jumble of talking heads rather than a cohesive narrative.
a commentary on the etymology & cultural tolerance of "the n word" that doesn't try to provide racial harmony solutions. the best gem is the free flow performed by saul williams at the end. fucking amazing.

Particularly enjoyed the views of George Carlin, Chris Rock, and Richard Pryor. Only thing the film really lacks is insight. At times, it feels like a broken record. Just different versions of the same opinion. All in all, worth watching.
