Yeah, I dealt with one of these emotionally complex, misanthropic geniuses, and hey, it ain't all a bowl of cherries, if you know what I mean. Oh wait, maybe I see myself as misanthropic and emotionally complex, to some degree.

Still, flicks like this serve a purpose, in that you can't imagine Joe and Jane Sixpack giving it the time of day. Total wtf, give me a break. No really, it was great. A lot of truth, except the whole Mandy Moore thing between him and her. The stuff with the illustrator and her mother (played by Diane Wiest) was great. Check it out, if only for that.

Soundtrack was great too. Could probably say more, but I'll save you the rambling for another time. Actually, no. Can't let it go just yet. You see, in the story is a rock, and it's a pearl-like, once of a kind type-thing. "There's only one." Oh dang, what was I going to say. Maybe just leave it there.

I was not really sure what I would be getting when I watched this film, as I had never heard of it before. I actually really liked it. An a-typical romance movie, with a guy who is so self destructive, it is almost criminal. Great acting from both and throroughly enjoyable overall.

It's a different role for her but she still looks frigging beautiful, especially with the wind blowing in her hair. Also loved her in her puffy jacket. The movie was funny with some pretty clever exchanges, not to mention an awesome main character that I could relate to. Only problem is the predictable last half hour. The denouement was touching, though. Good flick.

(read more) An unexpectedly great film with an independent spirit and none of the usual Hollywood cliche, Henry Roth is a compellingly, complex, almost anti-hero as portrayed by Billy Crudup and Mandy Moore's believable love interest rounds out the story. The well drawn characters are the real standout point of the film, as even supporting players have very interesting and lively characters, I enjoyed it but certainly did not expect it.
