David Slade directs very well in this suprising little vampire shocker. Music sets a creepy tone -Savage, brutal and the ultra violent gore in a few scenes really looked extra special against the eerie white backdrop of Barrow, Alaska. Acting quite average however that did not detract from a overall great adaption of the graphic novel. My favourite scene is a wonderful aerial flyby of the main street in the town showing numerous vampires causing carnage with blood spraying over the snow in a variety of ways. Screechy vampires can get slightly annoying but overall a corker.
this was an awesome movie only issue was the end it could have been better but i luved this movie it was cool.
Plenty of blood and axe wielding. It's a run of the mill horror movie with nothing much to shout about.

Sure there are some plot holes, but otherwise it's a pretty good movie. Good cast, effects, etc. Refreshing to see vamps as bloodthirsty monsters, almost feral, instead of the suave nancies so many things are giving us these days. I still think the ending could have been better though.
it was rope. story was crap. most of the gore was off camera. I will never get that time back .

I had almost started to believe that filmmakers had forgotten how to build suspense and create mystery--but David Slade has made a really good old-fashioned scary movie with some really effective modern touches (a lot of the action is filmed in the style of 28 Days Later, that kind of stop-motion, herky-jerky movement). The characters are adequately developed, the vampires are disgustinigly creepy, and the premise is fresh enough to propel the story. Twilight fans should be happy--Slade's next directing gig is Eclipse, which makes me quite eager to see it.

The problem is structural. After the invasion, we're marooned with the dull survivors.full review
The premise of this film has just got to be the ultimate wet dream for your average vampire.full review
You could make a horror film with shocking story developments and creepy twists. Or, you could just have monsters with pointy teeth jump into the frame while making loud noises. For the latter, check out the vampire flick 30 Days of Night.full review
Even as stage blood flows like water, this wicked-mean vampire thriller pushes ahead with effective characters, a fantastic visual schema and a terrifying plot.full review
I have pretty much reached my quota for vampire movies, but I shouldn't hold that against this one. If you haven't seen too many, you might like it.full review
30 Days is a proficient, atmospheric fangfest that does nothing you haven't seen before but still does it passably well.full review
30 Days of Night sparks with crackling energy. It's a symphony of shocks.full review
Pushes things into violent, hardcore territory all too similar to Danny Boyle's zombie-outbreak flick 28 Days Later and its 2007 sequel.full review
