Script construction is ragged at best but Peck does a great turn as the reserved yet stalwart hero. Well executed, rousing ship battles.

I'm always up for a Hollywood swashbuckler. I haven't seen very many in color, especially as vibrant as this one. Thrilling ship battles.

Peck is decent as Hornblower although the stories ability to please is hit and miss. The battle scenes are certainly a hit and make it a good adventure.

Gregory Peck plays his part impeccably and he sets the standard for playing this hero - something that is somewhat lacking in Ioan Gruffudd's depiction of the same. An all time favourite I need to get a copy on DVD

The original Hornblower movie, set later in the character's life. Overall a good swashbuckler movie.

One of Peck's best! This was one of Gene Rodenberry's favorite movies, so much so that he based Captain James T. Kirk on Hornblower!

When the last movie was over we were left wanting more episodes.
