Comprised of ten vignettes, each one inspired by one of the Biblical commandments, "The Ten" is an irreverent but hilarious illustration of how bad behavior makes for good comedy. With each story told in a different style, but containing overlapping characters and themes, the film is a grand burlesque boasting an all-star cast that puts the sin back in cinema.

The biggest reason why this film flat out sucks is because anyone who's religious enough to want to watch a film that features 10 educational (?) stories about the ten commandments would find this film grossly offensive due to it's crude humor and poor explanation of the commandments. And Any anyone who isn't that religious wouldn't probably rather watch something else instead, so this film has no real target audience. It's blatant christian propaganda, but it's done in a way where it fails on every level imaginable, even with the people it's trying to support.
Religious views aside, the film simply isn't funny. It's just stupid. Some of the stories are too short. Some stories go nowhere. Some are just lame attempts to imitate better comedies. The writing is atrocious. This film is a complete failure in every sense of the word. Terrible, absolutely terrible. Drugs can't even make this movie good. It's THAT bad.
What makes this movie all the more confusing is that the cast is filled with well known actors. You find yourself constantly asking "why did they agree to do this?" The answers can only be A) They are just as nuts about their religious and wanted to join in on the task of converting or reinforcing it, B) there was a buttload of cash or C) they lost a bet. I honestly cannot understand why any logical thinking person would willingly agree to this.
I realize that clearly my review has some biased opinions. That aside, the film simply isn't funny. And a comedy that fails to be even remotely clever in its humor is a failure. It's as lame as the Scary Movies, Date Movie, Meet The Spartans or any of the crap. They might as well have called this film Religious Movie.
Funny enough to be a movie but not funny enough to be watched over and over.
Although a few of the sketches that make up this movie are humorous, the uneven and random tone of the film cause it to fall apart.
considering the talent involved, this should have been much funnier than it was. but it was still pretty funny - especially the cat scan vignette.
Sekava ja taysin alyton, mutta siita huolimatta tai todennakoisemmin ehka juuri siksi yllattavan hauska "episodielokuva" :D
This is one of the most random, awkward movies I have ever seen. Within this unique blend of narration, sketches and even (wait for it...) musical numbers are some really REALLY funny moments. funny only if you like wet hot american summer or the state if not then its ok. i like the two aformentioned pieces so i like this
Some very funny moments, but mostly pretty lame. I can't believe the great Winona Ryder is now acting in z-grade stuff like this.
Critic Reviews
It is as if the filmmakers created an 11th commandment of their own: Thou Shalt Not Laugh. And we don't.full review
The film is far from a perfect 10, with hit-and-miss writing, an over-reliance on cheap shocks and solid laughs in maybe five of the sketches. Given their brief running time, the weaker efforts are off the screen in short order.full review
The Ten is, I guess, sacrilegious in the strictest sense of the term, and its interest in investigating the commandments can be skin deep, as they're often used as mere pretext for ribald nonsense.full review
The Ten, admittedly, is not Krzysztof Kieslowski's Decalogue. [Director] Wain's pieces are just jumping-off points for screwball improv and inspired throwaways.full review
