I wish BBC could have done this movie since it reminds me of many Jane Austen type of stories. I found this one a little on the cheesy side. But, what I did get from the movie is an overwhelming thankfulness for living in the modern day. Seemed liked women didn't have too many choices back then. Either they got married or they were considered 'loose women'. I also found it interesting that all the people in Janie's life decided to treat her as they thought she needed to be instead of who she actually was. She was put in a box until she was forced to conformed to their expectations of who she should be. This made me sad and to be honest I can identify with this quite a bit. It is a movie worth watching.

One thing I'll immediately compliment about this movie is the acting prowess of Halle Berry, and how much more attractive she looks with long hair.

So this is set in the 1920s and is thus very old-fashioned, but it has a certain charm to it that comes with watching people appreciate the simple joys of life. Of course, we watched this in English class after half of the students read the book that goes with it. Even though I wasn't one to read it, this movie is entertaining by itself, and no prior experience with the characters is even needed.

I've heard it doesn't do the book justice as best as it could, but since I didn't read the book, don't take my word for it. I'm not a fan of old-fashioned movies, but this one is in color and was made in 2005, so it's hardly ancient. 6.4.

Even though reading the book was dreadful, mostly because of the Ebonics, watching the movie was really heart-warming. I saw a different side of Halle as she gave an unforgetable performance.

I have been on a Halle binge lately, I find her beauty distracting, but she did well in this film which was very close to the book.

My all time favorite love story...I can so relate to Halle's character Janie. Plus both leading actors are drop dead beautiful! Timeless...know every word and could watch it again and again.
