Wasn't nearly as bad as the trailers made it out to be. Still cheesy in parts.

I felt like I'd seen it all before, most memorably in the far superior Dangerous Minds. It would have been nice to have had the real Miep Gies in the film, because no one can tell the story of her friends capture with the emotion and intensity than the woman herself. I found this film pretty average which is such a shame due to the inspiring story it is based on. I give it 3 stars.

Hilary Swank is pure **** material and in the words of Ali G "I definately would". The movie will capture some movie goers hearts and attention but perhaps just maybe they could have focused the film on any other culture apart from black, white, hispanic. Perhaps using subcultures to steer and guide our judgements might have kept my interest.
It was like watching a less intense Dangerous Minds. However inspiring this maybe, it seemed like a tentative solution to one batch of students and not to change the education system.

The movie was long bt I was able to sit through it easily hoping it wouldnt end. If a movie 2 hours long can make me do that then it must be good. The only downside was some of Hillary Swank's acting and some scenes just didn't make sense to me. However, this is a great movie. Go see it. Amazing soundtrack too.
An amazing real life story with a big hope message and great actors
how many time are they going to use this scenario, talk about beating a dead horse
Gettin a little tired of uppity white bitches comin into the ghetto and teachin 20 year old troubled urban youths to turn their lives around by reading 6th grade required reading.

Corny? You bet. And worse when the plot veers into the glitz of a Dangerous Minds and the sappiness of a TV After School Special. But the movie, which Swank helped produce by using her clout as a two-time Oscar winner, gets to you.full review
It's a truly inspiring story; pity the movie doesn't live up to it.full review
One teacher can make a difference in a troubled student's life. I learned this from To Sir, with Love, Dangerous Minds and Van Halen's Hot for Teacher video.full review
The kids' individual triumphs seem satisfyingly hard-won.full review
The story feels like a rehash of movies we've seen, such as Stand and Deliver, Dangerous Minds and Take the Lead. If Swank's character weren't so saintly, the story might be more convincing.full review
