It's got a little more of an edge than usual MGM tapdancing spectacles and I think they made a little bit more of a effort in attaining originality in the dance numbers - with the garbage can pails and the ROLLERSKATES (ohh my gosh). I only wish Cyd Charisse had danced in more numbers. I still say she and Gene Kelly have the best dancing chemistry - she's such a gazelle and he's such a kloofing klomphing dreamboat. The ending was a dream. I love that these movies mandatorily have to end happily.

I finally got his movie & watched it yesterday. There's a bit of a darker tone - which isn't all bad. The trash lid dance & the roller skating scene are amazing & the reason I wasnted to see this.

Wonderful characters, especially the Smart Woman portrayed by Cyd Charisse. Gene is wonderful as always, and there are several memorable dance numbers, including the trash can lid dance. The dialogue is great, too, and it's a nice change of pace from the happy-go-lucky themes of most musicals. It fits in well with the darker themes of 21st century movies. Consider it to be ahead of its time.

Not Kelly's best known work, but for my money, one of his best movies. There's a great routine on roller skates! Some great comedy as well. Really good entertainment.

TV barely makes a name for itself and already it's getting called out...brilliant.

I actually like this one better than "On the Town" partially because of "I Like Myself" but also because Dan Dailey is pretty incredible.

Very underrated Kelly film. The one with the roller skate routine. Also shows that blokes can be bitchy too!!!

I performed my first solo to "I like Myself" when I was 11 or 12, have been in love with the film ever since.
