As a result, Angel's superiors send him to a place where his talents won't be quite so embarrassing - the sleepy and seemingly crime-free village of Sandford. Once there, he is partnered with the well-meaning but overeager police officer Danny Butterman. The son of amiable Police Chief Frank Butterman, Danny is a huge action movie fan and believes his new big-city partner might just be a real-life "bad boy," and his chance to experience the life of gunfights and car chases he so longs for. Angel is quick to dismiss this as childish fantasy and Danny's puppy-like enthusiasm only adds to Angel's growing frustration. However, as a series of grisly accidents rocks the village, Angel is convinced that Sandford is not what it seems and as the intrigue deepens, Danny's dreams of explosive, high-octane, car-chasing, gunfighting, all-out action seem more and more like a reality. It's time for these small-town cops to break out some big-city justice.

It's for that reason that he's transferred out to the country to work in a small village that appears to be the safest place in the world, until members of the village begin to suffer from "accidents."
Hot Fuzz is from the team that brought us Shaun of the Dead, and they haven't lost a step since that film. Fast paced action, wonderful characters that are interesting, and a certain british flavour bring the entire package together.
Worth mentioning is the brilliant way that they are able to create parody through using every buddy cop movie cliche they could possibly find. This makes it so that the film functions as a self aware film that is able to play its content straight faced.
Another fantastic aspect are the cameos. Kate Blanchett, Bill Nighy, Timothy Dalton, and Steve Coogan all make unforgettable appearances, and I swear that Bill Nighy is the British equivalent to Christopher Walken.
Overall an excellent film that will make you laugh and cringe. And really, isn't it worth it to see Timothy Dalton steal every scene he's in?
The second movie from the 'Blood and Ice Cream trilogy', although entirely unrelated with 'Shaun of teh Dead' (besides the violence and cornetto ice creams). Hot Fuzz is almost as good as 'Shaun of the Dead'.
the "shaun of the dead" guys are back... this time as coppers in a peaceful english village. real great fun!
I love this. I love it even more than Shaun of the Dead to be frank. Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright are some of the best comedic filmmakers out there, I think.
I did not expect the blood and gore, but this movie was freaking hilarious.
Oh my god, this is absolutely one of my favorite comedy movies ever made. I crack up EVERY time.
Critic Reviews
The movie duly quickens into pursuits of every speed, and the homage to action thrillers is there in the smallest detail; the clicking of a ballpoint pen, say, is amplified to sound as menacing as the cocking of a gun.full review
It ain't Shakespeare but its HOT FUN. Nothing more, nothing less.full review
Though it's no Monty Python, Hot Fuzz is a clever, over-the-top marriage of mayhem and merriment.full review
What will Wright and Pegg set their targets for next? I don't know, but I'll be watching.full review
Although Hot Fuzz is a good 30 minutes too long (the ending -- or endings -- are endless), it is also good for long stretches of laughs.full review
Like "Shaun of the Dead," "Hot Fuzz" is distinguished by the sweetness of its parody. This is not the work of hyper-referencing wiseass geeks, and there may be no more purely enjoyable movie now playing.full review
Hot Fuzz may not quite hit the same level of raucous mayhem [as Shaun of the Dead]. But I think it's even sharper and funnier, and Wright and Pegg never run out of ideas.full review
Hot Fuzz is fun, and it's nice to see all the English character actors who aren't busy in Harry Potter films, but it lacks its predecessor's freshness.full review
Wright brings you close to the characters as well as to the action. It makes all the difference, as the dream team of Pegg and Frost lace the mayhem with mirth. It's a blast.full review
