An almost word for word remake of the 30s production. It looks better and there is more action than its predecessor but the overall acting in the 30s version makes it a better watch.

Great Stewart Granger classic swashbuckler with humor, a nasty villain who gets most of the best lines, and a romance that might break your heart a little. Granger is dashing, and the climactic duel is terrific!

A must watch for adventure films lovers. It has love, duty, a handsome hero, an evil villain and wonderfully choreographed sword fight! All you could ask for.

Everywhere Stewart Granger goes he always seems to go with Deborah Kerr and end up fighting with James Mason - well it can't be all bad!

James Mason is the true star of this film. His nasty villainous Count Rupert is great. Deborah Kerr is serene as Princess Flavia... costumes and scenery are true Hollywood.
