However, this is one case where diverging from the source material radically hurt the finale. I'm no fanboy of any sort, but Galactus is supposed to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. This movie could have been epic. Instead we get a lame Doctor Doom showdown and Galactus' servant, a guy who has a fraction of his power that Galactus himself grants him, somehow destroys him. But even if I didn't know all the backstory and was a casual observer, that would have stood out to me. I don't even care that Galactus was just a space cloud. Just make it some epic struggle that lets you know the fate of the planet is hanging in the balance, not some storms in China and a silver guy going supernova.
Just like the first Fantastic Four movie.....good ideas but the writers or director fell asleep 3/4 of the way through. Levez Le surfer d'argent et vous obtenez un pur nanar tellement insultant que vous avez du mal à comprendre le but de la manoeuvre.
This was a good movie, my only problem is that they turned Galactus into a fucking cloud
Critic Reviews
Of all the summer's big-budget action sequels, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is the least painful.full review
Sure, the CGI work is all pro and the Silver Surfer effect is a cool visual but the dumb lines and forced chemistry just don't cut it.full review
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is more ambitious than its predecessor. It's also more cluttered and less fleet: The light, pleasingly casual quality of the first picture has evolved into something forced and metallic.full review
In Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, our heroes get what they deserve: a decent action flick with a jolt of visual wow.full review
The film fails to sustain its modest running time of 87 minutes.full review
Although FF:ROTSS comes from the same place as Spider-Man (New York, and Marvel editor Stan Lee's noggin), this sequel to the 2005 Fantastic Four debut is lackluster, even by comparison to the lackluster Spider-Man 3.full review
The target audience appears to be Cartoon Network fans. Anyone outside that category is likely to find Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer a dull slog no avalanche of razzle-dazzle digital hooey can camouflage.full review
Rise of the Silver Surfer doesn't aspire to much. It just happens to have the three things it needs -- velocity, artistry and a pretty good story.full review
It's not egregiously awful like the first film. Just plain awful in that formula way that kills your spirit and all hope for summer movies.full review
These B-list demigods are so proudly, intergalactically mediocre that both the 2005 original and the follow-up tend to disable my super-snark beam.full review
