The film follows the lives and careers of the Dixie Chicks over a period of three years during which they were under political attack and received death threats, while continuing to live their lives, have children, and of course make music. The film ultimately presents who the Dixie Chicks are as women, public figures, and musicians.

These lovely Texan ladies gotta whole lotta hate for uttering one sentence about George W Bush and they tackled the onslaught in a very dignified way.
They just continued to do what they do best: have some babies, make some music and support each other.
Watching the insecurity of the extreme right wing in the American heartland, whether it be the media, the country music scene or just the general public, is a very scary thing.
You dont need to be a fan of the Dixie Chick's music to be amazed, entertained and moved by this doco, but you may be more of a fan once you have.
Good documentary - an interesting insight into the girl's personalities and what drives them. The backlash over Natalie's anti-Bush statement made them a better stronger band and has given power to their voice. Great band, great music.

The Chicks find themselves caught up in a political storm and aren't really sure what's going on, how they feel about it, why it's happening, what they should do and what it all means. In other words, they come across as very much like me and you. This movie doesn't tie up the story cleanly. It isn't shrill (and neither are the Chicks). It isn't, at its heart, about the war in Iraq. It touches on but doesn't try to reach conclusions about fame, art, success, failure, free speech, the price of free speech, forgiveness and anger. All this, plus a whole lot of babies.
To me, this movie marks a development from superstar to true artist.
(in addition to the political background)
Refreshing to see a mainstream group that voices their opinion despite the hit they might receive financially. I commend the lead singer for sticking to her guns & her bandmates for sticking by her side.
This is an older one, but interesting given how much views of the war have turned even since 2006 when this came out. Agree with what was said or not, we all have a right to free speech. Whether you have access to a microphone or not. And no one d... (read more) This is an older one, but interesting given how much views of the war have turned even since 2006 when this came out. Agree with what was said or not, we all have a right to free speech. Whether you have access to a microphone or not. And no one deserves death threats for that. Good documentary, and an inside look into a difficult time for a great band.
Love the Dixie Chicks! Met Dan Wilson a few years after seeing this movie. So cool.
An interesting look at a group of interesting women, and the retarded people who hated them for retarded reasons.
It's interesting how the people who boycotted the Dixie Chicks as a result of Natalie Maines' public statement of embarrassment at being connected even geographically to the former president wave signs proclaiming "FREEDOM".
