One of the best Documentaries on a making of a film ever, you really get the idea of the hellish way the film was made. Jaw dropingly good.

the most incredible journey on making of a film.

If you liked Apocalypse Now, you have to see this behind the scenes, making of, documentary.
An interesting look into the madnesses of a director and masterpiece that came out of it.

(read more) Francis Ford Coppola used to be an erratic, unstoppable force full of film bliss back in the day. I had always read stories of his decent into madness during the production of "Apocalypse Now", but reading and seeing/hearing it are two very different things. He was far more mad than I could have thought. It's very frightening and amazing to know that someone can become so obsessed with their work, that it drives them completely insane.
At times Coppola was clearly over the top with the descriptions of his film about Vietnam -- sorry, "It's not a film about vietnam, it IS Vietnam", says a very calm Coppola at a press conference.
What an effort by Coppola! Good on his wife for shooting this amazing footage. 1979 was a great year for making films.
This is a really interesting documentary and its incredible how many things went horribly wrong and how everyone persevered. Comparable but inferior to "burden of dreams" though that might just be my Herzog bias coming out.
