It fits well as a sequel connecting to the first film and logically following it's plot rather than starting on a whole new one with the same characters. Chan does well behind the camera and although it lacks the thrills of the first film it has a lot of intensity and compares favourably with other films of the same genre.
A tad less insane than the original but still some pretty amazing action scenes to enjoy and since the baddies choose to make a base in a firework factory you can expect a lot of explosions too.

Love the running joke with Johnny Ko getting his glasses broken. This movie suffers from less action than the first, but is nonetheless an excellent movie in its own right.

While this sequel isn't as good as the first, its still damn good. My main problems with it come from the pacing issues I had. For instance, the movie feels like two mini-movies spliced together. The first half is a direct sequel to the events of the first movie, with Jackie Chan's character having been busted down to traffic cop after all the damages and destruction he caused in the first movie. The main bad guys from the first movie get out of prison and start threatening Jackie Chan and his girlfriend, and begin terrorizing them and their families. When the police fail to do anything about it, Jackie takes matters into his own hands and gets into a fight with them in the middle of a restaurant, beating them all to a pulp. This gets him in trouble with his commanding officers and he quits. Thus starts the second half of the movie. He and his girlfriend decide to go on vacation for the first time in years now that he doesn't have his job to worry about, but while shopping at the mall, preparing to go, there's a bomb threat and the mall security, who know Jackie Chan, ask him for help. They get everyone out before the mall explodes, and Jackie is reinstated for his efforts and asked to lead the investigation into the bombing, and so the rest of the movie is about Jackie Chan trying to stop more bombings and find out who's behind them, which has absolutly nothing at all to do with anything shown in the first half of the movie, and the bad guys from the first movie are never ever seen again after Jackie beats them up in that restaurant. As I said, it felt very much like two separate mini-movies spliced together. Also, unlike the first movie, there's not really any comedy in this one and its mostly serious, which normally wouldn't bother me, but that's like having Rush Hour stay the same, but then make the second Rush Hour a complete serious movie.
Other then those though, I really liked it. The action scenes were bigger and more intense then the first movie, the martial arts stunts were just as good, if not better, then they were in the first movie, and both separate plots of the movie were interesting and engaging, although both deserved a full movie for them. I say what they should have done was used the second plot as the plot for this movie, then use the first plot, and expand upon it, for the plot of the third movie. But whatever. It's still a really good movie, so make sure you see it if you're a Jackie Chan fan.
Bon alors oui les combats sont bien foutus, voire impressionants, oui Maggie Cheung est jolie... mais est-ce que ca suffit a faire un bon film...

Usual basic 80's action movie story that is almost childish and just a big cliche (this one is about corporate company extortion, yawn), but who cares when the fight scenes are so manic! Some good explosions, fight scenes and lots of shots of Chan running up impossibly high walls and er him just...running!
Nowhere as good as the first one which has some of the best stunts ever committed to film, sadly there are hardly any of note in this one but if your a completist Chan fan, or just a martial arts fan give it a whirl.
The dubbing does nothing for this movie as the voice overs are pathetically done. The story is not one of the film's best assets either, however the action is enjoyable enough.
The story was much more interesting this time around, and the stunts were even better. If only Hollywood could make movies like this.
