A sideshow freak wolf girl started out nice and sweet, but hairy. Then they turned the wolf inward, so she became beautiful on the outside, but mean and ugly on the inside. It was really a good flick. Not your typical horror movie. In fact I don't really think this is horror at all....

decent flick. good actors but this movie seemed way too long. the gory/scary parts were lame but worth watching for the "pluck her" song!

I think this movie's underrated, bad marketing and all. The title seems to suggest that it's another gory werewolf movie when infact it has very little to do with bloodspill or supernatural action but is more of a drama with an emphasis on humaneness. Not bad at all for a tv movie.

Well-produced, Tim curry, and yet...this movie is awful. Not to say you shouldn't watch it. You should. Iceman is in it, and wow... just wow.

I use to watch this a lot when it was television; I liked it. It was entertaining. However, the last time I watched it I realized the movie's story is average. I like how the young woman wants to fit in by looking more "human" but towards the end, the story's energy began to decrease. With her transforming mentally into a wolf, didn't really make sense to me. I feel just because her whole body was covered in hair, doesn't necessarily mean she should change into a "wolf". Overall, the movie was interesting. I do have a question: there was a circus person in this movie whose legs were upside down/backward, they walked like a crab (crab walk). They seemed to really be built like that. Is it a condition, what is it called?

biggest hook for any werewolf movie is the changing scene: you watch and watch and watch hopefully to be rewarded with some clever effects. Blood Moon upsets this expectation to a pretty interesting effect. The werewolf changes gradually throughout the whole movie, not all at once under the full moon. What marks this movie as unique is the clever inversion of expectations when it comes to the monster's physical form. The werewolf-to-be begns the movie as a docile, emotionally vulnerable, internally beautiful teenage girl afflicted with Lycanthrope, a real condition that covers you with hair head to foot. She's exhibitted in a travelling freak show as "The Wolf Girl". Her transformation, which is explained as a psychotic condition spurred on by a series of injections that she takes to rid herself of all her wolfish body hair, sees her looking less wolf-like and increasingly more the average girl as the movie progresses. On an aesthetic level, she goes from monster to human, but psychologically, her transformation takes her as is expected: from human to monster. As she becomes more human, she becomes more monstrous. The theme here might be one of two: 1)Humans are monsters, cruel and insensitive, and no different from wild beasts. This theme is best supported by the townspeople themselves who pay to see "freakshow oddities" for their own amusement, and also by Shawn Ashmore and his cronies who constantly terrorize Tara in her wolf-girl days. OR, 2)"Human" is a designation based upon the state of your soul, your inner psyche, and has only superficial bearing on outter apperance. I think both themes, though contradictory, are important: like the performers in the freak show, people are both monstrous and kind at the same time. We're naturally good and naturally evil. Tara, then, didn't really change at all. From begnning to end she was a beautiful monster; all that changed was where that beauty lay. It's a bit of an insufferable cliche, which is why I think this movie got no recognition, but Blood Moon is nevertheless a really interesting way of delivering an old piece of tired wisdom while playing around quite sassily with the conventions of the standard werewolf movie.

As I slipped in the DVD and viewed the trailer, my expectations were set on a moderate level, expecting little more than average direct-to-video fare. What I got was a suspenseful, fun, character-driven, horror/drama that is now one of my favorite movies of all time.

Blood Moon tells the story of Tara Talbot (Victoria Sanchez), who is afflicted with a rare genetic condition that covers her body with hair. She lives her life in Harley Dunne's (Tim Curry) freakshow under the sideshow name "The Terrifying Wolf Girl," but on the inside, Tara wants nothing more than to be a normal teenage girl. Her affliction sets her apart from the outside world, and most think of her as some hideous creature that one could never love. Ryan (Don Tiefenbach) begins to spy on her when the freakshow comes to town and a troublesome group of teens (Shawn Ashmore, Shelby Fenner, Tony Denman, Nate Dushku) come along. Ryan offers Tara what she's always wanted--a chance at a real life. Ryan begins giving Tara serum that will remove her hair over time. Tara may finally get her wish to become a normal girl, but the more serum she gets from Ryan, the more the wolf begins taking over.

In all honesty, the only true reason I wanted to see Blood Moon was for the sensational Shawn Ashmore, and he definitely does not disappoint here. Shawn Ashmore plays Bo, an annoying and cruel jock, and he is very believable in the role. Tim Curry never disappoints, and he is perfectly cast as Harley Dunne, leader of the freakshow. Victoria Sanchez is very good as Tara, and she brings just enough life to the character.

While Blood Moon has very little gore, it does prevail in many other areas. I loved the black humor that was carefully littered throughout the film; it really made the movie. The musical performances were all very interesting, and all of the sideshow attractions are great to look at and fun to learn about.

Blood Moon was much more than I was expecting in every single category. The story moves along nicely, the directing is superb, and the story is very engaging. Don't miss Blood Moon--you won't be disappointed.

Although the primary plot (of the wolf girl) may be a tad lame, the rest of the movie is great. This is a good look at freak shows and the familial bonds they engender(ed) with the members.
