Not the most brilliant film ever made, nothing special visually or artistically-- but as far as films about parenting go, this one actually has some interesting content and offers a few poignant insights on the topic. Genuinely respectable.

This film strikes a very believable cord with me.

Even though I am not a family man, I do have a close net large crazy family that I love and adore even with all the issues. this film evokes that same love of family. Also as an adult, I got more of the slightly dirty jokes or content. That was a nice treat. One minute I laughing my butt off, the next maybe a tear or two. What a great slice of wonderful filmmaking and writing. Its a 20 year old film that everyone with a family should see.

Dianne Wiest trying her best not to be sexy and wearing god knows what. Keanu Reeves delivering another stupid, clueless performance (for the record... only 4 good roles for Mr. Whoa). Rick Moranis being a dumbass. The guy that played Larry in "Animal House" looking superfly in his 1980s sweater and stupid 80s big hair. And Joaquin Phoenix confused about being a teen.
Not quite sure why I wasn't "allowed" to watch this movie as a kid. Not too upset about it, though. I want my 2 hours back, Opie/Richie Cunningham.
This movie is super cute, funny, and truthful about the hardships of parenting (even if every single thing that can go wrong with a family is shoved into only 4-5 sets of parents, all within an extended family). Very sweet!
Still might be Howard's masterpiece. A warm and compassionately funny look at families which contains terrific performances by everyone, including one of Martin's best turns.
