This flick more than redeems Chan for all the American crap he's been doing the last few years. While these may not be the most amazing stunts Chan has ever performed on screen, this is, without-a-doubt, the best performances he's ever given. Infact I think this is the first movie I've seen where Chan isn't just basically playing himself. I mean it opens with him completely wasted and puking his guts out in an alley. You ain't gonna see that in Rush Hour. New Police Story also has some surprisingly disturbing moments and is definitely the darkest Jackie Chan movie I've ever seen. Aside from the amazing stunts and fights, there's a much better sense of character and emotion here than in any of Chan's other movies. Could've used a little more fighting and a slightly better climax, but those are minor complaints for such a generally enjoyable movie.

This was a great Police Story. If the main bad guys weren't such idiots, it could have gotten the full 5 stars.

Slowing things down on the action side and increasing the dramatic side is acceptable in his older age, but I think Jackie needs to team up with a higher caliber director like an Ang Lee etc. to really pull it off.

But the only scene that got me wondering if he did it for real or not was the one where he was barfing... did he really do it or did he just spit out oatmeal? It seemed pretty real to me.

Great revisits of the bus and light pole stunts but missing the drive through the hillside hovels. Guess Bad Boys 2 did it.

Awsome movie. A huge leap from the previous Police Stories. Dramatic storyline. Great fight choreography. And lots of great actors.

Enjoy the original with subtitles because you'll hate the uninspired dialogue.
