Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island," reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide "spare parts" for their original human counterparts. Realizing it is only a matter of time before he is "harvested," Lincoln makes a daring escape with a fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Pursued by the forces of the institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers.

This movie was a smash hit in the action sci-fi genre in my opinion. It kept me on the edge of my seat the first time I saw it.
disappointment...the action sequences were really good but everything else kinda fell off....
I caught The Island on tv a few nights ago after remembering having seen a rather attractive trailer a few years ago.

The Island is worth the look. It is visually pleasing and has a lot of quick-paced editing and camera work used in previous Michael Bay movies. The acting is also correct.
And we are given a good plot for once. There are elements of Logan's Run, Equilibrium or even 1984. I just regret that the second half of the film is inferior to the first half when the truth hadn't been discovered.
The film has decent action scenes which do actually serve their purpose and work as an extansion of the plot, unlike those in other films which are all put together and give the impression of one long and tiring video game.
What stuck out like a sore thumb though were all the commercial product placements. As a game, keep your eyes out for the cool brands which will still be around in 2019 (even in a compound closed from the outside contaminated world - as if Puma, Aquafina, etc survived a nuclear holocaust or something similar).
Teeheehee. The message and concept are really interesting, but the action scenes are hilarious.
A really good action film. Great CGI. But Ewans american accent was torturing. A terrible, cheesy, bad copy of an USA accent. Putting that HUGE criticism behind us it was a good action movie which i really enjoyed.
