The first 45 minutes are a bit "precious" but the movie gets some "teeth" when Angela Lansbury appears. Strong acting all around - what ever happened to the young stars? Tom Bosley is particularly impressive. What about Peter Sellers? It's one of his subtlest performances; love the way his "NY" accent emerges when he's stressed.

But he is spectacularly funny as the outwardly suave and debonair musician/playboy but who, in reality, is a nervous, cowardly ninny. The two teen girls, who are the central characters, are far more believable and sympathetic than any teen girls presented in modern, popular fare (High School Musical, Hanna Montana... go jump in the East River). And I can't believe I am going on record with this, but Angela Lansbury actually looks quite fetching in this movie, or as my father would have said, "what a dish!" And look for Tom Bosley (Mr. Cunningham from Happy Days) and Al Lewis (Grandpa Munster). Both of these actors are terrific. And finally, early 1960's Manhattan provides the perfect backdrop for this charming film. I almost skipped this selection but when I noticed it was a George Roy Hill film (Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, The Sting), I knew it had to be good.

I probably approached this film with the wrong mindset. I was expecting to watch a Peter Sellers film. What I got was a tiresome story about two pre-pubescent schoolgirls, with occasional cameos of Sellers.

I thought I should watch this as it's one Peter Sellers film I've never seen. It soon became obvious why. It's pretty awful. I only managed 30 mins before I had to switch it off. Don't waste your time.

Such a cute movie! I love the friendship the girls have. They did a wonderfull job. Definately worth watching!!

One of those perfect coming of age movies. I'd give it to my nieces if not for an unfortunate racist bit early on. I've read that the crush really happend & the Sellers character was actually Oscar Levant!

Can't imagine this movie appealing to anyone other than adolescent girls. Only reason Sellers is in it is to trick people into watching it.
