Decent film noir, but I could have done without the first-person-camera perspective for the first third of the film. I think they could have accomplished the same thing in a more clever and less intrusive manner, like the Twilight Zone episode about... (read more)

I actually liked this more than To Have and Have Not (its plot makes more sense!) plus Agnes Moorehead was pretty amazing.

Set in San Francisco, this is one movie you can really feel, as if you are there, for those of us who frequent that city. Best scenes, with Agnes Moorehead and Bruce Bennett (Tarzan)

The whole first half is in first person which is crazy! You never see Bogart's face. It was a pretty good movie, though the real killer was kinda lame.

I saw this vacationing in Europe many years ago. Probably the least of the Bogey/Bacalls, but enjoyment can still be derived.

A honeymoon for bogey and bacall, pov pretty plodding, especially regarding arm usage. Worth watching just for the technical angle.

A cool premise, but a bit slow.

Some really interesting camera work for 1947.

The mystery is obvious but the chemistry between Bogart and Bacall is palpable.

It drips of noir. If you ever played Max Payne you can see that they got the mona sax character from lauren bacalls idiosyncrasies. That and Bogey is the freaking man.
