I much prefer Anthony Mann's take on the old west with Jimmy Stewart as the conflicted man.

I have seen it many times and still love every scene. the opening score is a classic and the movie is as high paces and action packed with stellar performances.

Also, Dennis Hopper steals the very few scenes he's in, basically just by the way he looks as a human being. Duh.

But the script is a good one, and Lancaster and Douglas pull off their roles well. They have a nice interaction together that doesn't turn the movie into a buddy flick. Worth seeing if you're into the Western.

A seminal western - nevermind its historical inaccuracies - it's pure entertainment. Great acting, particularly from Kirk Douglas and a soundtrack that sticks in your head for days.
