After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country's jousting competition, and finds romance along the way.

Great music, very entertaining, we've watched 100 times and are still entertained.
There's a bizarre mix of medieval jousting and modern rock music that works surprisingly well. Just don't take the whole thing too seriously.
An awe-inspiring movie that bring 1 clear message to your mind - You're not what you are on the day you are born. You're only made by what you see yourself as, and by proving it. Not a good movie, but fun. More medieval movies should have soundtracks like this.

Her performance is mediocre and her accent is terrible to the point of being distracting. She seems like she's in a different movie to everyone else. I get that Will is "chasing stars" by going after the "lady" (who at one point appears to be wearing a lampshade on her head -- huh?), but given the choice of Sossamon's lady or Laura Fraser's farting blacksmith -- I know who I'd pick. Everyone else is great, but Paul Bettany is a stand-out, particularly in herald mode. The soundtrack could have misfired badly, but actually works really well. I like medieval stuff anyway, but I also like the point this movie posits -- that people then were essentially the same as people today. Plus it's just great fun. My favourite sport movie. Huzzah!
