This is a caper about a diamond heist gone helter-skelter, the rough-and-tumble world of bare- knuckle boxing, an unpredictable Irish gypsy and a dog. Double-crossing, double-bluffing and double-dealing abound as various parties pursue personal agendas-all of them illegal, some of them farcical and most of them involving an 86-carat diamond. As plans go haywire and tempers fray, dogs, diamonds, mobile homes, boxers and assorted weaponry get swept up into a chaotic free-for-all. The question is - who will emerge with the stone?

More people should know about this one. It is a fantastic flick. Had a hard time understanding Pitt, but then, so did everyone else.
I thought Brad Pitt was just another brainless 'Mimbo' until I caught his performance (and accent!) in this one. Hilarious, edgy and smart all the way through.

One will consider Snatch to be the real deal, with its polish and chrome, for which Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels was only an exercise. The other will think that something is missing from the later movie. My opinion is the second.
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels is one of my favorite movies. It feels like it's being made up as it happens, it feels gritty and real, it feels undiscovered, it feels a little bit indie, a little bit like stylistic rebellion. Snatch doesn't have that for me. It feels just right, poised, worked through, unimprovised. There are some very good moments. Really. And I may like Snatch more when I see it again--it's certainly complex enough. But for now--for me--it seems to have misplaced a less essential organ.

A lot of innovative film techniques that have been since overused. It's a great film but it feels tired 8 years later.
This was a great more. Guy Ritchie does a great job writing this story. The direction is pretty standard Guy Ritchie stuff but it works for this movie. The cast is just as good. But come on, Del Toro, Pitt, Farina, Statham among others where can you go wrong.

Bouncing around in a world of bare-knuckle boxing, gypsy swindlers, pretend Jewish diamond merchants, indestructible Russian assassins and a thug who disposes of bodies by feeding them to hungry pigs, Snatch has enough plots for a fair-sized cemetery... He's not breaking new ground with Snatch, merely fine-tuning the knack for disreputable kicks he showed in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.full review
It takes a very clever schoolboy to make a movie as elaborately empty as Guy Ritchie's Snatch.full review
Loaded down with too many characters and locations.full review
The movie is not boring, but it doesn't build and it doesn't arrive anywhere.full review
