terrible movie, great cast = very disappointing. it's labeled as a thriller and it's just soooo booooring. the so-called "thrills" are laughable. this is a very old film, though, so i don't know if i would have thought this was cool when it first cam... (read more) This film is a classic, watching it now made me realize how significant its message is. It may sound silly, but this film is really about forgiveness, and facing your own personal demons and letting go of the past, and that includes forgiving yourself for things you did in the past to yourself and others. I say this as I have had similar personal experiences in my life, not involving my own near-death experiences or anything as dramatic as that, but in terms of spiritual experiences that had to do with making amends with my own past, having that sense that everything is ok, and that I could finally let go and move on from things that I was even unconsciously carrying around, as that is naturally where our phantoms hide, in the shadows of the unconscious, that is until we face them and bring the light of our consciousness upon them. I now understand that this is why Awareness is so significant to the healing process. Schumacher also directed two other all-time favourite films that resonate with me as well, the "Lost Boys" and "St Elmo's Fire." Definitely watch this one, its really not about being a scary film, I promise :-)
Full of A listers
although they were Z listers when they made this!
Brilliant story
fun, never thought I was ever going to stand Julia Roberts in any movie, but this made it, I was so relieved when Bill told me why, lol
may be i overlooked some weak plot points before. may be i'm just more critical in my old age. still pretty interesting premise though.
