I guess I shouldn't really rate it because I fell asleep twice, but on the other hand, it made me fall asleep twice.
Its different than most war movies. It may not have the greatest battle scenes compared to saving private ryan or we were soldiers, but it has a good story about a war between american soldiers as well as the enemy. An accessible, articulate Vietnam war story awash in acting talent. Tidy storytelling and a neat soundtrack make this one of the best.
So far made it in my list of favorite war movies, I never knew charlie sheen could do drama, nor did i knew that Dr. cox from scrubs and johnny deep was in this.

All in all, this and Saving Private Ryan are the best war movies I've seen yet and probably will ever see...

A film that says...that before you can make any vast, sweeping statements about Vietnam, you have to begin by understanding the bottom line, which is that a lot of people went over there and got killed, dead, and that is what the war meant for them.full review
